A Woodwind Quintet Based in Southeastern Massachusetts
Flute
Peter Tileston is the retired director of the King Philip Regional Music Program dating from 1983 – 2010. Since 2010, Mr. Tileston has been the chamber coach for the school district meeting weekly with the district’s chamber ensembles. He was a flute major in college, and since the Covid Pandemic in 2020, he has rededicated himself to that instrument. It was in the early winter of 2021 that he founded and solicited others to join him in what is now known as the Willow Tree Winds.
During his tenure as music director at King Philip he brought many of the large ensembles to national venues playing at the highest levels. The program has continued to sustain that excellence through expert leadership of his former students.
Mr. Tileston also has a web-site called Classical Transcriptions. He has arranged numerous masterworks by composers such as Beethoven, Brahms, and Mahler for wind ensembles. These arrangements are unabridged and represent some of the greatest literature ever written. Check out classicaltranscriptions.com to see and hear examples of the works.
Mr. Tileston currently studies with Krystin Morey, principal flutist for the Brookline Symphony as well as the Assistant Director of Enrollment at the New England Conservatory.
